Demo Episode 1 Walkthrough

When writing this walkthrough, I played on the shogun setting (the hardest
setting currently available). Keep this in mind, as many of the creatures will
not be present where they are listed... There is a considerable difference
between Ronin and Shogun. Also, not all of the creature names may be accurate so
bear with us. If you think I missed something, send a comment.

"As Hiro, you attempt to infiltrate Kage Mishima's fortress and rescue Mikiko
Ebihara by hiding in the coffin of her deceased father, Toshiro Ebihara. You
that
Mishima's Death Collectors will take Toshiro into the fortress but along the
way,
the drivers hit a bump and some coffins fly out of the back of the truck. You're
in one and now you have to find a different way into the fortress through the
surrounding marsh."

Your first view of the world of Kyoto, Japan 2450 A.D is of the swamplands
surrounding the fortress. Your first weapon is the Powerglove, a gauntlet style
glove with excellent for close quarter combat. Surrounded by the other coffins
that "fell from the truck", you spy a Crox gliding through the air above you.
Walking forward, you pick up the first distance weapon of the game, the
IonBlaster.

And it begins.

Two to four shots from the IonBlaster will take down this first Crox, though it
will start to dodge once you start firing. Leaving the relative safety of the
hill, the Slaughterskeet comes into play. Vicious and fast, these creatures are
best taken down with either a couple of well aimed Ion shots or hitting and
backing away with the Powerglove, striking right before it does. With this first
attacker down, head to the stream at the base of the waterfall to the right and
follow it to the next area. Immediately after you hit the water, you'll see the
next Crox waiting for you, accompanied by another Slaughterskeet, and
several "Froginators". These small frog-bots can leap long distances and attack
low once they're close. One or two hits from the Powerglove will take care of
them but watch your back. Grab the nearby Ion packs and move to the first
secret,
the waterfall.

Under the falling water, you'll be able to see a ladder that leads up. At the
top
you'll find a short path to a door, behind which you'll find the "GoldenSoul", a
+100 health bonus.

Leaving the water you can see a round pod, which, once approached splits and
produces a single Slaughterskeet. Once you've eliminated it, you can move to the
second secret.

A short distance inside of the cave is a small water-filled hole. Before
entering
it, pop around the corner and take out the froginator waiting for you. Drop in
to
the hole and you'll find the second secret area containing an attack modifier.

Once out of the hole, you'll see a "health tree" to your left. It looks similar
to a small apple tree. Approach it and press "use" to pick each fruit until your
health is full. At this point, you meet the next challenge. From the cave exit,
several Slaughterskeets and Froginators will attack simultaneously, so attack
and
backpedal until they've been eliminated. Then move onto secret number 3.

In front of you are two waterfalls. The waterfall on the left can be scaled by
approaching its left side and jumping to the next level. Under the waterfall,
you'll be able to see another ladder leading up. At the top is a small cave, in
which yowl find the third secret area and a "Chromatic Armor", or 100 armor.

Upon returning to the base, you'll move into the small cave ahead to find 3
"fly-
pods". Once eliminated, moving farther into the cave will signal a map change.
(not episode change)

As you approach the cave exit, a Slaughterskeet will drop through a hole in
the "roof" to attack you from behind as you exit the cave. Backpedal before it
gets down and take it out.

As you move out of the opening, a few more Slaughterskeets attack so don't exit
the cave until you've dealt with them. Don't move into the open are because a
hidden proximity sensitive "Sentry Gun" is located across the yard on top of a
rock.

In front of you is a rock in the middle of a pool. Running from the rock is a
thick cable that runs up the wall to a control box with a glowing red light.
When
you approach, the "Sentry Gun" pops up and begins firing and a Gator attacks
from
the water. Quickly move back out of the gun's range and deal with the gator.
Quick and deadly, the Gator attacks at chest level. Four hits from either the
IonBlaster or the Powerglove will drop it. The gun can be eliminated either by
running into range and firing the IonBlaster (bad news is you'll be dead before
it will) or by firing at the control box from across the yard.

Grab the Ionpack, take out the Froginator that attacks from ahead and move on.

Ahead is a pond. At its edge, two Gators and a fly appear to say hello. Once
they've been taking out in a suitable fashion, move into the water. Cross on the
left of the pond to the thin shore directly opposite but stay in the water. On
your way across, a froginator or two, plus a few Slaughterskeets appear. Drop
'em
but stay away from the shore ahead.

Ahead, on the shore, is another hidden "Sentry Gun". Unfortunately, there isn't
a
visible control box. Cross to the right edge and cling to the wall till you
reach
the cleft near the shore. From here, you'll be able to hear the gun going up and
down as it tries to target you, as your inside of its proximity detection area.
With the IonBlaster, use a sniping method of attack. Pop out, fire, and move
back
into the cleft until the target is terminated. Try to catch as its going up or
down, not at its peak, when it will fire. Deal with the Froginators,
Slaughterskeets and the Gator on the other side and hold at the water's edge.
Take out the control box for the hidden "Sentry Gun" in the rock ahead and move
on.

Once past, tread carefully as both Froginators, Slaughterskeets, and possibly a
Gator wait on the ramp around the corner leading out of the pond ahead.
Following
the land around the water will take you to a health-tree and a "Save Gem". Take
out the creatures, grab some health and the gem and move up the ramp. Near the
top, the tunnel takes a 108-degree turn. There you'll find either a
Slaughterskeet, a froginator, or a Gator. Deal with it and find the fourth
secret.

On the outer wall of the corner is a large boulder on a short ledge. Jump up
onto
the ledge, "Use" the boulder and move into the revealed passage. Up the ladder,
this secret holds a health pack, an Ionpack, a Save Gem, and Plasteel Armour
(200
Armor). Return down the passage and move into the next area.

At the entrance to the platform area is a health tree. Fill 'er up and grab the
health packs on the first platform but don't cross the bridge yet. Return to the
health tree and drop to the ledge below it and down into the water. Eliminate
the
Gator and Froginators present and grab the Ionpacks. Climb up the ladder to the
ledge again and follow it down the wall to the fifth secret area.

Underneath the far platform is secret 5, the cool looking "WraithOrb". Grab it
(Invisibility) and quickly return to the first platform via the ledge and
ladder.
Make sure your IonBlaster is handy, cross the bridge and prepare for battle.

Once your across, the bridge is destroyed and 10 Slaughterskeets fly out in
formation and with the poison-spitting Thunderskeet. Invisible as you are your
IonBlaster will prove useful and you should take out the Thunderskeet first, as
you'll have your hands full once the WraithOrb wears off. Grab the MegaShield
[400 Armor] that is drops and move onto the formation of Slaughterskeets.
Take 'em down and, using the ledges to the sides, drop to the water. WARNING!
AVOID THE GLOWING RED FORCE FIELD! BAD! VERY BAD!... (of course, watching
yourself being goo-ified is always good for a laugh, but save first and bring a
spatula).

Once in the water, some Slaughterskeets, Froginators, and a Gator will appear
from the recently opened gate in the nearby cave. Take 'em out and move in. Grab
the Ionpacks to the left, then proceed to the right. Once at the top, a
froginator and a health tree are to the left and the path lies to the right.
Deal
and proceed down the tunnel. This will signal another map change.

Around the corner, another froginator and Slaughterskeet are waiting, as well as
a large number of both outside the cave exit. "Walk softly and carry a really
big
stick" Deal with 'em using the IonBlaster and move into the open area. A health
tree is to your right, as well as another Save Gem.

To the left is a door with a security box. Hop over the lowest pipe to the other
side and take out the Gator and froginator. Hop back onto the pipe and walk
upwards away from the door till you get to the smaller pipe leading out from the
one you're standing on. Hop onto the smaller pipe and walk back towards the
door.
Hop over to the pipe that continues to a point over the door and step on to the
roof after blowing away the three Froginators on top. Grab the Ionpacks and
destroy the control box present on top. This opens the door below you. Jump down
and get ready.

The tunnel is full of both Froginators and Slaughterskeets. Keep your back to
the
wall or to the outside and fight your way through using the IonBlaster to the
best of your ability. Once inside (and hopefully still alive) grab the Ionpack
behind the door and proceed up the ramp, killing the locals as you go.

Once at the top, move to the right of the door. Take out the froginator and the
harmless worker. Behind him is another "Sentry Gun". Use the sniping method you
used before to take it out, then destroy the control box above and behind it.
This will open the door. Pick up some health and move into the next secret.

Between the health tree to the right of the door and the structure itself is a
hatch hidden on the ground. (Say three feet from the structure?) If you fire at
the ground, it'll show up as an off colored octagon. "Use" it, drop down the
ladder and grab the Megashield and the Power Modifier, then proceed back up and
into the control center.

Inside the room are two harmless workers and some not so harmless Froginators
and
Slaughterskeets. take 'em out and "Use" the console to the left. This will open
a
door farther into the level. Go up the elevator at the back of the room and go
to
the tunnel entrance. Take out the Froginators, hit the switch, and grab the
health and Ionpack (accompanied by another froginator. Proceed to the waterfall
at the edge of the tunnel.

Once outside, take out the Croxes, Slaughterskeets and Froginators, then proceed
to the right.

In front of you is a structure with a ladder running up to the top. Once up,
you'll see a grouping of "fly-pods". Try to take as many out as possible from a
distance to prevent "hatching". Grab the health, Ionpack, and the c4 pack
(hmmm...... ~grin~ wonder what this is for) Jump over the rock, taking out the
Froginators on the way. Follow the tunnel to another "Goldensoul" and a health
tree. Return to the platform, drop to the ground, and move to the other branch
of
the stream.

Take out the Gator and the froginator farther down but don't go through the open
door (This the door you opened from the control booth and is the end of the
episode, but you ain't don't yet). Proceed to the end of the stream. Time to
dive.

The underwater tunnel is fairly long but does contain another Save Gem. Switch
to
the IonBlaster before you exit at the other end. Fire at the Thunderskeet but
don't get near the "fly-pods". Take out the froginator. Destroy the fly-pods
from
the water, and take out the Thunderskeet using the ledge for cover. Grab the
GoldenSoul it drops and move on, taking out pods as you go if possible,
Slaughterskeets when its not.

The path is as follows. As you leave the water, Froginators, a Gator, and some
Slaughterskeets attack so deal and move on. Go right to the second grouping of
pods (Destroy), pick up the health and Ionpacks, then move to the grouping
around
the small pond (Destroy). Turn left and follow the path up and around. At the
top
are a health tree and a froginator. Turn around and you'll be able to see
another
grouping of pods on a ledge overlooking the cavern. Take 'em out (If they
haven't
already hatched) and follow the ledge to another save Gem and a health pack.
Then, return to the ramp leading to the health tree and drop to the ledge to the
left and follow it around to pick up to more C4 packs. Turn around and return to
the nearby staircase, pick up the healthpack and grab the C4 Vitzerago (hey... I
bet those C4 packs went to this! Ya think?) The Vitzerago fires a C4 charge that
will activate on contact with a surface or creature. Once activated, it will
detonate by proximity or by being fired upon. Enter the tunnel and ignore the
switch. Drop into the water and grab the "Shock Sphere". Return up the ladder
and
hit the switch to bring down the elevator, and ride it up and out. In the small
room you stop in, "Use" the off colored wall to the right and move out onto the
platform. Return down the ladder to the waterfall and go to the door down the
other branch. End of Episode.
