Every character and shop owner has some bit of information or object for
sale--which you'll need to solve puzzles down the road. For example, J'ffer's
Books has many published secrets.
Hint: Gold is essential to your success. At the beginning of the game, be sure
to accept Kataro's job, which will pay 300 gold pieces. You'll need gold for
torches at the lighthouse, passage to N'gasta the Necromancer's haunt, and
more. And speaking of gold, don't forget to search your victims for some.
Hint: Do a good job of questioning Gerrick the shop owner's parrot, and he'll
lead you to buried treasure. Watch out for pirates, though.
Hint: During duels, don't stand in one place; guards will surround you if you
focus only on one adversary. Back step, jump, and keep enemies off balance by
switching between them.
Hint: Avoid enemy sword lunges and thrusts by sidestepping; then attack while
your foes are vulnerable. Also, be sure to master defensive blocks, thus
enabling deadly counterattacks. In general, let enemies make the first move.
