Solution [ENG]

The Teaser

You will start with two ACOLYTEs of the Order trying to kill you! Get in close
and punch them until you have dispatched them. They should drop a pass key that
will allow you to go out the door and along the edge of the sewage plant.
Go through the door on your left, and talk to HARRIS (face him and press the
space bar to initiate a conversation). He will send you on a mission to recover
the CHALICE from the SANCTUARY. He will give you a crossbow to help you
accomplish this task. (DON'T fire your crossbow in the town- you will set off
the
alarms, ensuring your demise. Use your fists if you need to kill silently).

Continue along the walkway and go out the opening on the left, which leads to
the
town. Turn left and head past the tavern and down the steps. When you get to the
river (don't cross the bridge), turn right and you will see the entrance to the
sanctuary. The Acolyte standing there will not let you in through the door. Drop
down into the river and walk onto the little wooden dock there. this will give
you access to the inside of the Sanctuary.

When you're inside the sanctuary, open the big door and use your crossbow to
kill
the Acolyte standing on the platform ahead of you. Turn to the right, grab the
ammo and health, and go up on the lift platform. Go through the door and you
will
pass the room with the Chalice (on your right) and the room with the switch to
turn off the force field (on your left). The switch room is locked. Turn left
and
go up the stairs. Kill the Acolyte at the top of the stairs and throw the switch
behind him. Now go back down the stairs and turn right- you can go down the long
hallway there, and throw the switch at the end. This will raise the walkway
below
and to your right, allowing you to cross the water area (jump into the water and
get onto the platform if you don't want to go around the long way). After
crossing the platform, go through the door and get on the platform there.

When you get to the top, a prisoner behind the door on the left will tell you
something interesting. Then continue back and turn left, and go through the door
there- you will have to kill a red Acolyte who will drop the key to the switch
room. You can also grab some health and ammo.

Return to the switch room near the chalice, go inside, and grab the Assault gun.
Throw the switch. Now you can enter the room with the Chalice in it and grab the
chalice. At this point, you should return to town and head for the tavern.

The Acolytes in the tavern will attack you while you are carrying the chalice,
so
defend yourself (the Assault gun works best). Then go up the stairs and open the
door on your right. (Save your game at this point if you want to try out two
different possibilities).


You will meet Harris again, but this is where the story branches- if you give
him
the chalice, he'll send you to meet the governor, but it's a setup! If you kill
Harris instead of giving him the chalice, he will reveal a secret switch that
allows you to go into his basement. Grab the stuff there, including the COM
UNIT.

When you leave the basement, the COM UNIT will activate, and you will receive
directions from BLACKBIRD, the FRONT's secret agent. Drop the Chalice (Use
insert/delete to select it in your inventory, then hit backspace). Then follow
her directions to the Governor's place and open the door to your left once
inside. This will lead you to the FLAMETHROWER.

When you grab the loot and the Flamethrower, you will set off an alarm. At this
point, you want to get back to the town, and use the Flamethrower to destroy the
CRUSADERS (the big robots). (HINT: the Environmental Suit will protect you from
their flamers if you put it on).

Once you have destroyed the Crusaders, a secret entrance to the FRONT's base
will
be revealed (located to the right of the weapons shop). Head inside and jump on
the TELEPORTER (the swirly yellow thing). This will take you to the FRONT's
base,
where you can meet MACIL.

Macil will tell you more about what is happening in the world of STRIFE. At this
point, you can end the TEASER by throwing the EXIT switch.

Congratulations!!! You have completed the teaser. Now for some real fun, check
out multiplayer with your friends!(insert link to multiplayer teaser) The Retail
version should now be available in stores. Check with your local distributor.


The Power Station
To get to Worner, the Spy:

When you first enter the Power Station, head down the long hallway, go down the
lift, and turn right. That leads you to the WAREHOUSE area. Turn left at the
sign, then go through the first door on your right (where the FOREMAN is). Throw
the switch there. That opens the gates to the lower area. Make your way through
the crates until you get to WORNER (HINT: lots of goodies are stashed in amongst
the crates). When you get to Worner, he’ll give you an ID card (the Power1 Key).
Now you can get into the Power Station Core area.

To get the Second Key (the Suicide Run):

Enter the power station area (you can check with the guard if you like). You’ll
see a large room with water in it (the COOLANT ROOM). Immediately hang a left.
Follow the walkway around the water and throw the switch that raises the steps.
Go up the steps and through the doorway- unfortunately, it’s alarmed! Turn left
and follow the hallway until you get to a bridge. Go across the bridge, kill the
guard, and throw the switch there. Now turn right and go down the stairs. Follow
the catwalk around the pit (don’t fall in!). Keep going until you get to a lift,
and take that up. Turn left and walk around to the stairs. Go down the stairs,
turn left, and talk to the Technician there (watch out for Stalkers). He’ll give
you the Power-2 Key. You can go back the way you came if you want, or go down
the
lift beyond the technician to do the SUICIDE RUN and then to BREAK the TERMINAL
screen (this raises the water around the crystal, making it a bit safer once you
get there).

To get the Third Key from Sammis and blow the Crystal:

Go back to the COOLANT ROOM, and head for the door to the POWER CRYSTAL area.
Throw the switch there. You should see a large, short hallway with a small room
on your left. Grab the environmental suit and med patches from the room, then
open the far door with the switch. (You’ll hear a low throbbing sound in there).
You'll see a tall column ahead - the crystal is in there. But to get access to
it, first you want to find a guy named SAMMIS. Turn right and go through the
little doorway (into a very noisy area). Get inside the center ring (don't
forget
your environmental suit!) and go up the lift to get to SAMMIS. He'll give you a
key that lets you take an elevator (the Power-3 Key). Take the key, throw the
switches behind SAMMIS and head back out to the big core area. Go across the
walkway (either one) until you reach an elevator. Take the elevator up, and find
KETRICK. Throw the switch behind Ketrick, and blow up the crystal with your
Assault gun or Micro Missile Launcher (if you found one yet). This will set off
the alarm if Ketrick hasn't done so already... Now get out of the Power station
and Blackbird will guide you from there.

The Weapons:

There’s a section of the Power station you don’t need to go to at all, up near
the top center of the map. In that area is a WEAPON TECHNICIAN that tells you
about a weapons shipment. If you kill him, he’ll drop a gold key. Take that key
back to the WAREHOUSE. Go around the right side of the warehouse ( be sure to
throw the switch in the guard room) and watch for a little red laser tripwire on
your left. Hop over the tripwire, and open the door at the end (if it has a
forcefield on it, you have to be sure to shut it off with the switch in the
guard
room opposite you). Inside you’ll find some WEAPONS…

The Secret Entrance:

There’s a secret way into the POWER STATION! Remember that if you kill with
stealth you won’t set off the alarms. Silently get to WORNER(as above). After
Worner gives you the power-1 key, go out on the docks outside the warehouse and
walk around to the left. Watch the stone wall on your right for an opening. Go
in
the opening, jumping up the waterfall steps, and turn right when you see grey
brick. Grab the two med patches hidden in the water next to the spigot, then
jump
up on the ledge and throw the switch on your left to open the gate. Drop down to
the floor, and turn left and go down the stairs. Down below is the WEAPON
TECHNICIAN- kill him silently to get the gold key. Go back up the stairs, then
to
the right and down the other stairs. Go around the left side of the columns and
grab the loot. Then go on the platform and jump down into the water. Wade toward
the tan technician and jump up to him via the corner. Throw the switch behind
him, then follow the pipe on the ceiling to your right and drop down below. Look
around for a Medkit, then drop down into the water. Go out the doorway into the
COOLANT ROOM area, and jump up the waterfall to get up on the walkway. Turn left
and go out the big door (you have to open it with the switch inside the little
guard room on the left). Head back to the Warehouse, go around the right side,
and follow the directions above for getting the weapons.

Now, go back outside and around the docks to that secret entrance again. When
you
drop down to the floor, go down the steps straight ahead but this time go on the
right side of the two pillars. The third indentation on your right is a secret
door! Open it, and go into the air duct. Go up the lift (NOTE- if you didn’t
throw the switch behind the tan technician, this lift won’t work!). Watch out
for
the Sentinel- punch him out if you want to be stealthy. Follow the duct until it
drops down, then open the door. You’ll come out in the area where SAMMIS is, not
too far from the crystal! Get inside the center ring (don't forget your
environmental suit!) and go up the lift to get to Sammis. He'll give you a key
that lets you take an elevator (the Power-3 Key). Take the key, throw the
switches behind Sammis and head down the hallway and out to the BIG humming
area.
Go across the walkway (either one) until you reach an elevator. Take the
elevator
up, and find KETRICK. Throw the switch behind Ketrick, and blow up the crystal
with your Assault gun or Micro Missile Launcher. This will set off the alarm if
Ketrick hasn't done so already... Now get out of the Power station and Blackbird
will guide you from there.


The Dreaded Sewers

Snagging the Grenade Launcher:

First, make sure you have some Environmental suits (you can find some in the
Power Station, or buy them from the Armorer in the Shops). Then, head along the
river past the town hall. There’s a switch on a little column near the peasant
who is "guarding" the sewers. Throw the switch and go into the area it opened
up.
Throw the switch on the wall in there, and drop down the hole into the sewers.

You’ll land in some green muck flowing downstream. Turn around and check the
wall
behind you for a secret. Then, head downstream, shoot the Sentinel, and get out
to the left before you plunge over the edge. Take the lift down, and run across
the sludge to the platform on the other side. Go up the curving staircase, and
kill both guards at the top. Be sure to grab the ID that one of them drops, and
throw the switch on the wall of the upper section. There’s some loot back there
too. Then, head back down the curving staircase.

Two passages will now be open. Put on an Environmental suit, and take the
passage
on the left. When it opens up into a room, turn left and go up the stairs that
curve up to the right. Shoot any Stalkers and Sentinels that bother you. When
you
get to the top of the stairs, go through the door on the right, then open the
next door on your right. Inside there are some more goodies, as well as the
GRENADE LAUNCHER. Exit, go back down the curving stairs(Left), and back down the
passage (Right).

Locating Weran, the Rat King:

Now you want to take the passage on the Right. Stay to the right, and jump up
the
big steps. You’ll get to two little rooms, one straight ahead and one to your
right. Each has a Sentinel in it (shoot them) and each has a small grating door.
Take the one straight ahead. Inside is a lift that will take you up. When you
get
to the top, watch for Stalkers, and go straight ahead. You’ll see a door and a
window- take the door into the guard room and kill the guard, then throw the
switch in there. Go back out and turn right- you should see some cave walls
opened up. Watch for a Sentinel on your right, then head into the cave area and
stick to your right. Keep going right until you see some beggars. Walk past them
and you should see a grey stone area. Head inside, go up the steps, and turn
left
to meet WERAN. He’ll tell you to get a guard uniform and open a door to the
town.
Grab some loot.

Procuring the Uniform:

Exit WERAN’s den, and stick to the left of the cave areas to get back the way
you
came in. When you get to the lift, go down, out through the door, and turn left
towards the other door. Open it and take the lift there. When you get to the
top,
watch for stalkers, and follow the hallway. When it turns right, throw the
switch
on the wall and shoot the Sentinels. Then continue down the hallway past the
window, down the steps, and open the gate there. Then turn right and go across
the bridge. You’ll see a room on the other side- watch for stalkers, and go up
the stairway in the back. You’ll transition to the TOWN area.

Kill the guard there and grab the uniform he drops. You can go out to the town
if
you want to stock up on supplies. Then, go back the way you came to get back
into
the Sewers. Follow your map and retrace your steps to get to Weran, and he’ll
tell you how to get to the Gate controls. He’ll also give you some flamethrower
parts. If you want, you can go back to the town and exchange the parts for a
flamethrower (see Irale, in the room next to the Weapons shop). Either way,
start
at WERAN’s place to get to the gate controls.

Finding the Gate Controls:

Exit Weran’s place and go straight ahead. You’ll see a descending staircase in
the caves ahead (one of the TUNNELS OPENED BY WERAN). Go down the stairs, then
cut across to the little platform on the other side of the sludge. Go up the
tiny
stairs to get to the upper section of the sludge. Shoot the 4 sentinels hiding
in
the alcoves and grab the ammo. When the hallway widens out, turn left and open
the door to the Guard Shack. Kill the guard inside and throw the switch. Go back
out and turn left, and go up the staircase. You’ll transition to an isolated
part
of the CASTLE area(note: this does not connect easily to the rest of the Castle,
so don’t bother trying to get to the rest of the castle from the sewers!).

Go up the stairs, turn right, and run straight past the platform (you can kill
the guard there if you want). Take the lift up, and you’ll be outside. Watch for
Stalkers, and take the stairs down to your right. Go into the little room inside
and throw the switch. Then, go out and back up the stairs, and through the large
opening into the Reclamation tank area (not the area with the force field). The
reclamation Tank looks like two large connected pools. Go to the right and turn
the crank. Jump into the tank and ride it down as it drains, and be sure to put
on an environmental suit.

When you get to the bottom of the RECLAMATION TANK, go through the left doorway
(dark). You’ll transition back into the sewers area. Drop down into the large
open area and watch for stalkers. To your left you’ll see a short hallway with a
door on one side, but you can’t get to the door because there’s a big PIT there.
Turn left and go down the long, narrow hallway. It turns to the left, then goes
over a CROSSOVER. Then it goes down some steps, turns left again, then left
again. On your right you’ll see a large door- open it, and go inside. Watch for
Stalkers, and head to the back of the room past the three pipes, in a little
alcove. Turn the crank in there- that raises the water level in that pit near
the
beginning of this section of the sewers. There’s a stash of goodies nearby the
peasant in this area, by the way… Now, you’ll want to go out the big door, and
turn LEFT so that you are backtracking the way you came (turning right each
time)
until you get back to the large open area. Now turn left, and you can walk over
to the door in the little hallway there because the PIT will be filled with
sludge. Inside, you’ll see four columns of machinery (one of which has a SECRET)
guarded by some Sentinels, and a little door on your right. Open the door and
jump up onto the ledge, then turn left and go until you get to a lift. Take the
lift up, and right ahead is the GATE CONTROL Mechanism. Destroy it (you can even
punch it if you want), then go across to another lift that will take you back
down. Congratulations, now the Front can assault the Castle from the town
because
the Castle’s main gate will be open!

Getting Out of the Sewers Alive:

Now you have to get out. Exit the control room, and turn right to go down the
long CROSSOVER hallway again. This time, follow the long hallway ALL the way
around. Push the button to lower the bridge in the middle of the CROSSOVER
section and keep going. Watch for Sentinels. When you get to a big door, open
it,
watch out for a stalker, and go straight ahead. Ignore the two little doors on
either side- go up the stairs until the hallway opens up. Watch for Stalkers on
your left, and grab the med patches there. Then, go right into the little guard
room again. Open the little door in there and take the TELEPORTER.

You’ll come out near the little lifts near the beginning. Make a sharp right to
go down the little hallway and onto the lift, and take it down. (This part
should
be familiar, it’s how you get to the guard uniform, and it’s the ONLY way out of
the sewers). Then go out through the door, and turn left towards the other door.
Open it and take the lift there. When you get to the top, watch for stalkers,
and
follow the hallway. When it turns right, continue down the hallway past the
window, down the steps, and through the gate. Then turn right and go across the
bridge. You’ll see a room on the other side- go up the stairway in the back.
You’ll transition to the TOWN area. Go out the door, and you’re free! Be sure to
get your flamethrower from Irale if you haven’t already, and head back to the
Front Base where Macil will give you gold, training tokens, and a briefing on
the
Castle. After getting geared up and seeing the Medic and Weapons trainer, head
across the river in town, up the steps past the tavern, and through the Main
Gate
into the Castle!


Finding the Mauler in The Fortress: Stores

Locating the Stores:

The Fortress: Stores is a level of it’s own that can be reached from the
Fortress
Bailey. If you’ve talked to Quincy, he tells you about the Maulers (the
Warehouse
and the Stores are the same place). To get to the Stores from Quincy, exit the
Hospital and turn right at the fountain. Then turn left when you see the orange
force field on the door above the vine covered walkway (if you haven’t already
turned the field off). Then turn right at the steps and walk up them towards
another door with an orange force field. Turn right and enter the small guard
post there. Inside is a small switch- throw it to shut off the orange force
fields. Exit the guard room and go in the door on your right. Take the lift
straight ahead. When you get to the top, you’ll see a low wall ahead of you. Hop
over the wall and go down the stairs there. You’ll see a sign over a door that
reads "warehouse". Go through the door and you’ll transition to the Fortress:
Stores area.

Infiltrating the Hub:

Once in the Stores, go up the stairs on your left. If you're going to kill any
acolytes, use poison arrows to avoid setting of the alarms. Run all the way down
the long hallway (past any lifts or steps on your right). Follow the hallway
when
it turns to the right (notice the turrets on the ceiling at every corner?). Keep
running all the way around, following the hallway, until it goes up some steps
and to the right. Be careful! Stop running, and slowly walk up the stairs until
you see a small switch on your right. Don’t fall down the pit ahead- throw the
switch and then walk across when the floor raises up. Then, walk up the stairs
to
your left, and silently kill the guard and grab the Mauler key that he drops.
Then, go back across the pit (using the switch to raise the floor), and go back
down the long hallway until you get to the corner with the lift on your left and
two lights on the ceiling. Take the lift down, and grab all the loot you see in
that room. When you get to the front of the room, you’ll see a large number 1 on
the floor right in front of a door. You can open the door, but a barrier will
block your exit. Directly opposite that door are three steps up to another door.
Go up the steps and in the door, and throw the switch inside there. That will
raise the barrier. Now if you open the #1 door, you’ll see the hub of the
Stores,
but be careful- a Reaver will be waiting, and at this point, you’ll have to set
off the alarms to kill him (if you haven’t set them off already).

Grab that Mauler:

When you enter the hub, the door on your right (with the green alarm lights)
leads to the Maulers. Go through the door (you’ll see a #4 on the floor) and
find
the conveyor belt. Jump on the belt, then get off and go to the right. Fire some
grenades in the windows on your left to take out the Reaver and any Templars in
there. Then take the stairs on your right, take the lift up, then go around to
your left and take the other lift down. Keep your Flamethrower handy- more
Templars might be waiting for you down there! You’ll see some Maulers and energy
cells just waiting to be picked up.

Loot, Loot, and More Loot:

Don’t leave yet - be sure to check out all four areas thoroughly for health,
ammo
and armor. Search section #3 especially well- there’s lots of goodies and
secrets
in there! To get out of the Stores, take the stairs up from the hub that run
between section 2 and 3, then turn left, go up the steps on the right, and turn
left again to get back to the entrance.


Defeating the Bishop

These tips will help you take him out:


Make SURE you hit the Stores before taking on the Bishop. The Stores are also
known as the Warehouse - Quincy mentions that's where the Mauler is kept. Be
sure
to get the Mauler. You can get to the Stores from the Bailey. The stores takes a
while to explore, but is loaded with goodies (including some hidden shadow armor
and a vault full of gold!). (See the accompanying walkthrough for the Mauler).
The Bailey itself also has some nice little secret stashes, so keep your eyes
peeled.

When you arrive at the tower, kill the crusaders that are at ground level on
either side of the entrance. Then, fire grenades into the two towers immediately
above and bookending the front door. Then, fire incendiary grenades up onto the
walkways and lure the Templars and Crusaders into the flames - this saves a lot
of time.

Slowly clear out each area and watch for switches. The tower is bilaterally
symmetrical, so whatever you have to do on one side should immediately be
duplicated on the other side. Each set of switches brings you closer to the
Bishop.

Engage Crusaders with your Flamethrower at close range - constant damage
prevents
them from getting shots off, and if you're close enough, they won't fire rockets
(only the occasional flamer). Flamers also work well against Templars, just stay
on target. Use the Assault gun or Missile launcher for other targets to spread
out your ammo consumption.

There are two areas below some of the walkways that have stashes - just jump
over
the railing, shoot the stalkers below, and collect your loot. You have to use a
secret tunnel to get out of these areas, but they're not too bad. Also, check
the
monitor glass behind the Bishop for secrets.

Metal armor and shadow armor will help you survive these engagements prior to
taking on the Bishop. Remember that the last two templars and the Bishop himself
can teleport, so keep your eyes peeled and watch your back.

The Bishop's specter cannot be harmed by conventional weapons: you have to use
the Sigil. Since the Sigil uses your health as ammo, be sure to bring as many
health packs as possible, and make sure your Sigil blasts actually hit the
specter. If you get really desperate, you can even buy some health from the
medic
in the Bailey (in the hospital, next to Quincy). If you've been keeping up on
your stat increases, the Field Surgery kits are worth the money.


Finding Richter

Getting to the Order Commons:

Go to the Borderlands. Head toward the wood lined buildings where the Keymaster
hangs out (Notice the "COMMONS" signs on either side of the main door). Go
through the main door, and straight ahead is another large door that requires a
Brass key. You should have a brass key, given to you by Macil. Go through the
door, and you will enter the Order Commons area.

Finding Richter:

Go through the right door- you should see a large courtyard. Go right (towards
the water) and drop down. You should see the waterfall on your right. Stand with
your back to the waterfall, facing the building. You should see two windows-
that's the room Richter's in. Go through the small door on the left side of the
building, then turn right and go up the stairs. Take the small door on the right
(1/2 way up the stairs). Inside is a guy with green robes- that's Richter.


The Proving Grounds



There are four switches and a floor trigger on the level, plus no less than 14
one-way teleporters in the Proving Grounds! Don’t worry, this walk through will
get you through the entire Proving Grounds in one fell swoop (although you’ll
have to take the enemies out on your own). All compass readings are relative to
the map. Ready?



-----------------------------------

The South:

You start facing a wall - two lifts sit in the left and right corners. Take the
left lift down. You’ll be outside now. Head to your left, towards the big square
lift, and take it up. Walk toward the striped gate poles - they’ll open
automatically(1).

Go through the door- you’ll enter a room with Crusaders in holding pens. Kill
them and take the lift down in the middle of the room (2). There’s a switch down
there. Throw the switch, then exit the room through the door to the North. Go
down the curving stairs, then turn left and take the lift down. Turn right, drop
off the ledge, and head for the door on the corner of the big building (3).

The West Side:

Once inside, take the lift on your right all the way up, then turn right and go
through the door (don’t worry, you’ll get the loot in a minute). Then go through
the door on your left into the little room (4). Throw the switch in there, then
grab the loot and go back to the big lift. Take it down, turn right, and go down
the narrow hall towards the teleporter (5).

Hop into the teleporter- it will put you outside on a big pedestal. Carefully
turn until you see a translucent wall. Jump across and grab the loot (6). Then
drop down, turn right, and watch for a doorway on your right just before the end
of the building. Go in and take the curving stairs up into a watery area. Take
the teleporter at the back (7). It will put you back near the start.

You’ll be facing an inaccesible "Switchway". Turn right, drop down off the
ledge,
then take the lift on your left (it goes up through a shaft). Turn right and
take
the teleporter (8). This puts you in the "switchway" (8b)- throw the switch,
then
take the other teleporter (9).

The East Side:

Now go through the gate, and take the lift down (on your left). Turn right and
follow the wall until you get to three teleporters. Take the closest one (10).
You’ll see a switch in a tiny room - throw it, then teleport again by backing
up.
You’ll be indoors (10b). Walk forward, then turn left and when you get to a
lift,
take it down and to the left. Then go straight ahead and take the little
lift/stairs down, then go out the door on your right. (11). Turn right and head
towards the teleporters again.

Now take the middle teleporter (12). Throw the switch, then teleport again.
You’ll be indoors, facing out(12b). Walk out, then turn left and go through the
funky tunnel. Then turn left, and take the weird looking lift (on your left)
down. Walk until you see a teleporter on your left (13). Take it.

The Loot Room:

You’ll arrive in a room, facing a lift (13b). Take the lift down, turn right,
and
follow the water to stairs. Take the stairs up, then head through the left hall
(it stairsteps down). Turn left and look for a tiny black door. Go through the
door and into the teleporter (14).

You’ll be in a switchway again (14b). Throw the switch and take the teleporter
(15). You’ll come out on the third teleporter (16)- carefully turn around and go
through the open doorway- grab the loot!

Leaving the Proving Grounds:

Now, hit the teleporter (16) as you exit the loot room, and you’ll be in a tiny
room with a lift door. Be careful - sometimes, an Inquisitor can get stuck in
this room via the teleporter! Open the door, go straight, and take the lift down
to the right. Go down the three steps, then turn left and go up the big
staircase. You’ll see a familiar teleporter on your right (13). Go in to get
back
to the top of the map (13b).

Now just go down the lift and straight ahead to exit the Proving Grounds (17).
Prepare to meet the Loremaster!
